What do you think about Shay's description of a model? Shay and Tally have a skewed of our time, but what have they got right?
Shay lives in the future, so they are allowed to eat all they want to, but if you are a model, you can only eat small portions. If not, you may gain weight, and lose your modeling job.
What Shay has correct is that women do starve themselves to look beautiful. But, this is NOT a healthy way to be pretty, it can make you sick and you cant function properly. If somebody has to look Pretty of a carrier, they could weight lift, or run to stay in shape, and they could still be a model.

Find a picture what YOU think the Smoke looks like and post it on your blog with an explanation of why you chose it.
I chose this picture, because nobody has inhabited this place in what could have been 50 or more years, it is possible a secret village is here, but you don't know for sure.

What do youuthink the flying machine was? Who was in it? Make a prediction.
I believe the Flying machine was an expanded hover board that the AWOL Uglies stole before they left to go to the Smoke. I think David and Shay were driving the Flying machine.
PREDICTION... After Tally figures the last of the clues, she will make it to Smoke and will try and bring Shay back.

Have you ever made yourself do something that you didn't want to do because you knew you had to?
Yes, when somebody you utterly despise tries to hug you, on an impulse, you slap them.

Why do you think Tally ultimately decides to figure out where Shay is?
Tally knew she made a promise to both Shay and Peris. But since she made Peris a promise to be a Pretty with him, before Tally met Shay, she decides to go find Shay and bring her back.

Why do you think Peris comes back? Support your answer with textual evidence.
Peris came back to see why Tally wasn't a Pretty, and to see if the rumors were true. If she was a Special Circumstance.
"You promised you wouldn't do anything stupid, Tally. That you'd be with me soon. That we would be pretty together."

When tally and the man arrive at the factory, Tally is sent to wait in a room. When a lady finally arrives, Tally is questioned about Shay, and why she disappeared. The woman soon becomes angry and tells Tally that she will never become a pretty, Tally was devastated. I believe Tally will go to this place Shay dissapered to, and bring her back, along with all the other uglies there.

At the beginning of the chapter, Tally goes into a car that will take her to the operation to give her the operation. When they arrived, Tally was to wait an hour to wait for the operation. Then, a man came to get Tally, but not to give her the operation.
I predict Tally will be sent to some strange place where she will be questioned about Shay and where she currently was.

Two fights were presented in this chapter. Compare and Contrast both of them. List their similarities and differences. Why did each fight occur? What was the outcome of each one? (no less than one paragraph.)
The two fights were fake and real. In the fake fight, Tally and Shay fought to play a prank on the new Uglies, but in the real fight, Tally and Shay were fighting because Tally was saying they should grow up, and Shay argued with her that being pretty, would make them normal. They both occured because the girls wanted to play a prank, and the other occured by accident.Thy compare by being arguments, and not actual fights. They differed by one being fake, and another being real. The outcome in the fake fight was a good laugh, but in the real fight, Shay and Tally don't talk for a week.

Write one paragraph summary of the chapter. Tell the events in chronological order.
First Tally and Shay arrived at the Rusty Ruins. Then shay showed Tally the "roller coaster" which they then rode. After a few minutes, Tally is in free fall mode and flys off her hover board. When the girls meet back at the end, Tally wants to know who showed Shay the "roller coaster", so Shay takes Tally to see Shay's friend.

In this chapter Tally says, "I kind of like being fooled about dome things." Do you agree with Tally, or would you rather know the reality behind everything? Why?
I wouldn't want to know everything, because it would take away the surprise behind secrets.

Find information about the origin of White water rafting and post it here along with the website URL.
In 1811, the first recorded attempt to navigate the Snake River in Wyoming was planned by the Overland Astorians. While attempting to boat the stretch below Jackson Hole, the river was found to be too treacherous and it came to be called ?Mad River.?
The rubber river raft is believed to have been invented in the early 1840s. It was first made by Lt. John Fremont, who was then serving in the U.S army and Horace H. Day. They invented the rubber raft with the intention of surveying the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. Although the raft was invented in the mid-nineteenth century, it was not until the turn of the century that the first ever commercial whitewater trip was undertaken. At first, surplus military rafts were used as boats and it was only much later that inflatable rafts were used.

Define Peer Pressure. Think of a time when it happened to you or someone you know and explain the situation in a paragraph.
Peer preasure is when people preasure you to to something you may not want to do.
When I spent the night at a friends house, the other girls were playing Truth or Dare. I chose dare. What I was supposted to do, was run around the room acting like a complete idiot while my friend was recording it on her phone. I didnt want to, but the girls kept calling me a chicken. In the end they eveuntually gave up, and i didnt have to look loke a complete idiot.

Reflect on the following quotes from the chapter, what does each mean to you?
_______________________________
"Making ourselves feel ugly is not fun."...
The way Tally and the other uglies try to make themselves pretty in the game isn't a very good way for their selfesteem.
"Everyone judged everyone based on their appearance. People who were taller got better jobs...people killed one another over stuff like having differnt skin color." (referring to when everyone was ugly.)
People were very judgemental before they could become pretty, and only because of a small differnce.
"Its the only way to make people equal." (Becoming pretty)
If every person is pretty, everyperson is ugly.

Think of another book, movie, or comic (etc) in which people use hover boards. How are they used?
In the movie back to the future, the people use hover boards. They are used by being stood on and controlled.

Why do you think the new pretties don't come back to Uglyville to visit? Describe their physical & mental transformation into new prettys.
I think they do not return, because they want to live as a pretty, and not to live in the past, with their ugly friends. They transform by acting the way other prettys act, and do what other prettys do. They arn't being their own person.
